Master Moore was raised on a farm near Bloomfield, Iowa. He graduated from Indian Hills Community College in 1971 and then joined the Navy. While on the USS Saratoga, he took Tae Kwon Do lessons from a 1st degree black belt. Just enough to get a taste for it. After the Navy, he received a BSBA degree from Old Dominion University and moved to Waterloo. In 1985, he restarted his Tae Kwon Do lessons at the YWCA. A year and a half later he earned his black black belt. Master Moore has been teaching Tae Kwon Do at the Covenant Wellness Center since 1997 and is now a 5th degree black belt.
Master Moore is also an avid bird watcher. He is a licensed bird bander through the U.S. Bird Banding Lab in Laural, Maryland. As well as being a member of the Iowa Ornithologists' Union, he is a founder of the Prairie Rapids chapter of the National Audubon Society and the treasurer of the Friends of Hartman Reserve.
